Fake platforms and how to check them before you pay
Learn how fake investment websites and apps work, and the simple checks that can save your money.
What a fake platform looks like
Many scam platforms look very professional. They have a nice website, a mobile app, moving charts and a "personal manager" who calls you every day. Some copy the name and logo of a real company and change just one letter.
The trick is simple. You deposit money, and the screen shows it growing fast. But the numbers are not real. There is no trading behind them. The platform only exists to collect your deposits.

Check before you deposit
Before you send even a small amount, take ten minutes for these checks.
The license. Search for the company on the website of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. If the company says it is licensed in another country, check that country's regulator too. A license number on the company's own website is not proof. Check it at the source.
The website address. Look carefully at every letter. Scammers buy addresses that look almost the same as real ones.
How long it has existed. A platform that appeared a few months ago and already promises big profits is a red flag.
Reviews outside the platform. Search the company name together with words like "scam" or "withdrawal problem". Do not trust only the reviews on its own site.
Who contacted whom. If the platform found you first, through a call, an ad or a message, be extra careful. Real brokers rarely chase people.
The friendly "personal manager"
Fake platforms often give you a personal manager. At first this person is polite and helpful. Then the pressure starts. "The market is perfect right now." "With 5,000 manat you can open a VIP account." Some even suggest taking a loan. A real broker will never push you to borrow money to invest.
The withdrawal test
Profit on a screen is not real until you can take it out. If the platform asks you to pay a "tax", "insurance" or "unlock fee" before you can withdraw, stop. This is the moment when most people lose even more money.
Also know this. Some scams let you withdraw a small amount once, just to win your trust. One small successful withdrawal does not prove that a platform is safe.
