₿ What’s happening in crypto?
Hi,
Before we get into today’s crypto market brief, one quick note: this is not investment advice and is not intended as a recommendation to buy or sell any asset.
The crypto market can be summed up in one sentence right now: it wants to go higher, but interest rates are getting in the way.
Bitcoin is trading around $84,000. Softer U.S. inflation data briefly pushed BTC toward $85,500, but the move faded as the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield stayed close to 5.3%.
At the same time, the institutional bid has cooled a little. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs just ended a 9-day inflow streak worth about $3.1 billion, with roughly $149 million leaving the funds in the latest session. Ether ETFs also saw outflows.
So institutional demand has not disappeared — but momentum has slowed.
What matters now?
▫️ Bitcoin — $85,000 is the key zone
BTC is still the market’s main compass.
A clean move above the $87,000–88,000 area could open the door to another leg higher. On the downside, $80,000 remains the first major support zone.
But there is a warning sign.
CryptoQuant says short-term holders’ unrealized profits have climbed to a 21-month high while spot demand has weakened. That usually means the market is becoming more vulnerable to a correction.
On the other hand, Citi has raised its 12-month Bitcoin target from $82,000 to $113,000, citing stronger ETF demand and higher crypto activity.
In short: the longer-term story looks better, but the near-term path is still messy.
▫️ Ethereum — quieter, but not forgotten
ETH is trading around $2,690.
Price action is calmer than Bitcoin, but ETF flows remain interesting. Ethereum ETFs attracted roughly $690 million in the previous week.
Citi also raised its 12-month ETH target from $2,240 to $3,028.
So the Ethereum story right now is less about an explosive breakout and more about institutional money slowly returning.
▫️ Solana — weak price, interesting flows
SOL is trading around $118 and has been one of the weaker large-cap cryptos today.
But the ETF data tells a different story.
U.S. Solana ETFs attracted around $188 million last week, including a record single-day inflow of roughly $87 million.
That creates an interesting divergence:
price momentum is weak, but institutional demand is still there.
On Reddit, Solana holders are also heavily discussing accumulation around the $100 area. But much of that conversation is still based more on long-term conviction than hard fundamentals.
▫️ HYPE — one of the strongest momentum names
Hyperliquid’s HYPE token is trading near $89 and has been one of the stronger large-cap performers.
The important part is not just the price.
Hyperliquid now controls a meaningful share of global perpetual futures activity, which gives HYPE something many altcoins lack: real usage and real revenue.
That makes it one of the more interesting altcoin stories.
But there is an obvious risk too: after a sharp rally, a lot of the good news may already be priced in.
▫️ ENA — high risk, but one of the most interesting stories
Ethena’s ENA token is trading around $0.26.
Standard Chartered recently set a $2 target for 2028, implying very large upside from current levels.
The bank’s main argument is USDe.
It expects USDe supply to potentially grow from around $4.9 billion to $40 billion, which could eventually support higher protocol revenue and token buybacks.
But this is also a high-risk thesis.
If USDe growth disappoints, the core argument behind that upside weakens quickly.
So ENA belongs firmly in the interesting, but highly speculative category.
▫️ XRP — still one of the most debated names
XRP is trading around $1.48–1.50.
U.S. XRP ETFs recently attracted roughly $76 million in weekly inflows.
But there is an important debate happening in the community.
The XRP Ledger is seeing more stablecoins and tokenized assets — but investors are asking a simple question:
does network growth actually create enough demand for the XRP token itself?
That is one of the most common topics in XRP discussions right now.
So with XRP, the key issue is still this:
adoption does not automatically mean token price appreciation.
▫️ NEAR — one to be more careful with
NEAR has fallen sharply after a security incident involving NEAR Intents.
The exploit was worth roughly $3.8 million, and although the team said the issue was fixed and losses would be fully covered, the incident still created reputational risk.
It also happened shortly after the launch of the first U.S. spot NEAR ETF.
So NEAR now has both a catalyst and a fresh risk factor at the same time.
What are people discussing on forums?
Bitcoin communities are back to the classic October debate:
“Uptober or Dumptober?” 😁
Some traders think the old four-year Bitcoin cycle is becoming less relevant. Others still expect October seasonality to push BTC higher.
But the more important signal is this:
people are starting to talk more about which altcoin to buy, rather than only Bitcoin.
That can be a sign that risk appetite is returning.
But it can also be dangerous.
CryptoQuant says the amount of altcoins being sent to exchanges has risen to its highest level since October 2025 — which may indicate that some holders are preparing to sell.
Today’s key takeaway
Right now, this is not an “everything goes up” crypto market.
Bitcoin is fighting around the $85,000–88,000 zone.
Ethereum is seeing institutional interest return quietly.
Solana has weak price momentum but interesting ETF demand.
HYPE stands out because it has a real usage story.
ENA is one of the more interesting speculative plays.
XRP still faces the same key question: how much does network growth actually translate into token demand?
And most importantly, as long as U.S. bond yields stay elevated, it will be difficult for crypto to move into a clean, broad-based rally.
So the key word right now is selectivity.
Not every altcoin has the same story.
This is not investment advice; it is a short map of the main risks, catalysts and market narratives.
